Karunasinghe, Rashi Whitman Center Associate, Whitman Center

I am a neuroscientist, specialising in cell physiology. My present research aims to investigate the roles of an extracellular sugar, hyaluronan, in regulating the development and ‘wiring’ of neuronal circuits in the developing brain. The overall goal is to characterise hyaluronan-associated changes that affect neuronal physiology in developmental brain disorders. My research utilizes in vitro rodent models (cell culture and acute brain slices) and uses electrophysiology and live-cell imaging methods to study cellular functions.
