  • The determination of concentrations of pore water constituents on a millimeter scale is essential to understanding the processes determining sediment-seawater exchange. The rates of reactions producing many pore water components are greatest very near the sediment-seawater interface: thus, mm-scale sampling is important to locating reactions in the sediment column and to quantifying reaction kinetics.
