Pinto da Silva, Patricia Social Scientist, Social Sciences Branch

I have been interested in the connection between people and the sea for as long as I can remember. My interest in fisheries management began in Brazil, thinking about how fishermen could collaboratively manage the marine resources their livelihoods depended on. I also studied the evolution of collaborative management institutions in the Northeast US. More recently, I am exploring the goals of fisheries management and how they connect to our fishing communities and regional food systems.
